Ever After Farms Wedding

Weddings

Nicole and James’ Ever After Farms wedding ranks at the top for best receptions ever. Who knew James was such a theatrical entertainer?!

James and I go way back to my restaurant management days. When he found his girl, he suggested I photograph their wedding and the rest is history. Leading up to the wedding day, they weren’t sure if they needed a second photographer. I’m so glad we decided to add one, because this day was packed with details and moments and we didn’t want to miss a thing!

How adding a second photographer alleviated the timeline:

Since I had an incredibly talented second photographer along for the ride, I was able to focus on Nicole and the bridesmaids as Tara photographed James and his wedding party. This gave us more time for individual portraits as well.

While I photographed family formals, the second photographer had plenty of time to photograph the reception room details. Often times, we don’t have more than 15 minutes to photograph everything in there before guests are invited inside.

There’s way less pressure during the reception. I can focus on the couple’s reactions during speeches, and there’s more room to “play” with fun camera tricks during dancing.

How Nicole and James made their own traditions:

While they got ready in the same space, Nicole and James decided against a first look. This was easy to navigate since we had a second photographer, and Nicole still got a special first look moment with her dad.

They had a flower dude! I’m seeing more and more “flower dudes” at weddings, and theirs threw rose petals and handed out seltzers to guests – and James! – right before Nicole walked down the aisle.

One announced husband and wife, the newlyweds high-fived their wedding party as they came up the aisle!

Their guestbook was a hockey jersey, and they asked guests to sign it at their reception.

Throw in a choreographed dance with dad, custom hockey koozies as favors, and maybe the scariest hora I’ve photographed (it’s tough in a barn, ha!) and you’ve got a killer reception!
