This day after session at Vizcaya is about to flood your heart with those newlywed ✨feels✨
I first met Anna & James when I rented a new camera and needed to test it out on a real shoot. One of my past brides introduced us and we explored downtown West Palm Beach together. We spent an hour or so making pictures and trading our favorite restaurant hot spots. They were engaged to be married soon, and had a wonderful wedding in the Florida Keys.
Months later, Anna reached out to see if we could grab some newlywed photos at Vizcaya Museum & Gardens. I jumped at the chance! A portrait session after the wedding is actually pretty common here in South Florida. Typically called a “day after session”, couples will sometimes schedule these shoots if there wasn’t a ton of time for portraits on the wedding day. Sometimes inclement weather forces them to schedule a day after session, too.
The great thing about Day After Sessions, especially at Vizcaya, is that there’s ZERO pressure. No wedding planner, no guilt because you’re not greeting guests… just you and your honey soaking in all the moments together.
Either way, I don’t think you need a reason to get dressed up and take photos – every day together is a special occasion!
Vizcaya is an iconic estate in the heart of Miami, and is the perfect backdrop for romantic photos. It’s also high on my list of favorite places to shoot. For the best light, we started our day after session around 4pm. Vizcaya sometimes holds nighttime events, so we were able to stay on property till the last minute. I easily could have photographed these newlyweds for hours.
