It all started with Cece a couple years ago. Her mother wanted some “non-traditional” quinces portraits and we shot all over downtown Brickell. Then Cece’s friend Valentina, and now V’s friend Lucy. I’m not mad at all – these relaxed sessions are such a joy to photograph and I love making pictures their families will have forever.
South Florida is known for over-the-top, traditional quinces portraits. Usually with a huge dress, a ton of lighting equipment, and schlepping through Vizcaya for hours in the hot sun. Whew.
But I like to do things a little different around here, and love giving these young ladies a model experience in a lifestyle kind of setting. I hope they look back at these photos years from now and see their authentic self in their photos…
I love photographing girls at this age. Unlike us elder millenials, they don’t seem to go through the awkward stage, and they’re so savvy and camera aware! Kids nowadays don’t know how good they have it, but dang they look good doing it!
