Every now and then a new South Florida venue pops up and I’m absolutely obsessed with landing an event there. This time, it was Alyssa & Lucien’s wedding at the Ray Hotel in Delray Beach that got me super excited!
The right wedding planner is so important
The couple was referred to me by Julie at Just Glam events. I love that Julie matches clients to vendors based on their personalities. Alyssa is not the bridezilla type – she’s cool, quiet, but has a smile and laugh that will LIGHT UP not just the room but the rest of your week, too. She feels with 100% of her body and everyone knows exactly how she feels. Her energy kept me motivated all day. I love an expressive bride!
Alyssa and Lu were planning another celebration the week after this wedding for their friends back home, so the intimate guest list was perfect for a venue like the Ray Hotel Delray Beach. There’s not a ton of wedding venues with GREAT indoor ceremony space options, so “the Cube” at the Ray is a welcome treat for couples looking for a low-key indoor ceremony.
The Ray also has spacious rooms for getting ready, and incredible natural light. If you have a large wedding party, ask for a suite with the huge balcony overlooking 2nd street for allllll the space for getting ready!
How the couple made their day unapologetically THEIRS
Alyssa and Lu didn’t have a wedding party, but opted for a first look since they had a lot of family members in attendance. The Ray has a few great spots for family formals, and we definitely needed the extra time to photograph all of their requested family groupings. After the ceremony, I snuck them away for a quick portrait in the lobby and they were able to enjoy cocktail hour (and grab some snacks in private!)
I also loved Alyssa’s details – her custom “just married” sneakers, the feather trim on her getting ready pajamas, and how they didn’t splurge on excessive florals, opting to donate to charity instead. Their reception was held on the outdoor deck. And even with a light sprinkle and chill in the air, Alyssa, Lucien, and their guests danced the night away like it was springtime in California.
