Grace and Frankie (yes, I know about the show and have a little giggle every time I say their names) booked me back when COVID was barely a blip in the news. Little did they know they’d be planning their Spanish Monastery wedding during a worldwide pandemic.
While dozens of other weddings of mine had postponed or outright cancelled, Grace and Frankie were determined to move forward with their plans, and follow all COVID protocols to keep their family and guests (and vendors!) safe.
With the help of their wedding planner, Joni of Your Special Day by Joni, the couple managed to pull off a gorgeous ceremony at St Bonaventure Church and reception at the Ancient Spanish Monastery. My first “big” wedding since March definitely did not disappoint.
It was a long day, but Joni’s timeline she built for the couple gave us plenty of breathing room so Grace and Frankie could truly enjoy their day. If there’s any advice I’d give a couple planning their wedding, I’d tell them not to try to cram a million things in 8 hours. If it feels like a production, you’re not going to enjoy it.
With an extended cocktail hour, Grace and Frankie opted not to do a first look. Thanks to the extra time, they got to hang with their wedding party for a few drinks, not feel rushed through portraits AND join their own cocktail hour. *chefskiss*
Huge thanks to the amazing vendors who helped make this day special:
