Coconut Grove Wedding

Weddings

Every couple of years a New Years Eve wedding comes my way, but this Coconut Grove Wedding was one for the books! (Or Brooks? Ha!)

Robert (AKA “Brooks”) proposed to Jess on a yacht in Miami on New Years Eve, so it was only fitting to have their wedding a couple years later on NYE in Coconut Grove. Jess fell in love with the bohemian vibe of Villa Woodbine, and since it was so close to her venue, had her heart set on pre-ceremony portraits at Vizcaya.

It’s damn near impossible to take a bad photo at Vizcaya, and thankfully the timeline was written so that we didn’t feel rushed before the ceremony. We had about an hour to photograph the first look and some romantic portraits around Vizcaya before heading to Villa Woodbine.

The couple rented a classic Bentley for the ride to Villa Woodbine and it was such a treat to have it for portraits and wedding party photos. I highly recommend renting transportation if you have multiple locations on your wedding day.

With so much packed into the day, it’s hard to pick my favorite moments, but I’ll list a few before spamming you with these gorgeous Coconut Grove wedding images:

1. As Jess posed on the stairs to the mound at Vizcaya, a HUGE iguana fell from the ledge and landed with a THUD just feet from her. Tourists thought Jessica had fainted, haha!

2. As the family and wedding party walked down the aisle, some held a white rose and added it to the bouquet placed on a table near the arch. It signified family members they had lost over the years and I thought it was such a special gesture and beautiful way to include them.

3. The dance party that erupted at the end of Jess and Brooks’ first dance!

4. Jess tossed the bouquet and — it got chopped up by the ceiling fan. The best.

and of course, #5: The countdown to 2022 and the accompanying ball drop. What an amazing way to end the reception!

Without further ado, here’s Jessica & Brooks’ gorgeous Coconut Grove wedding day:
