Love in the times of COVID-19
Daniela and Ryan were planning their South Florida Elopement months before we even knew what COVID-19 was. They had originally planned for a destination wedding at Fern Forest. Fern Forest one of Broward County’s hidden gems when it comes to parks and natural areas.
As the weeks crept up towards their South Florida elopement, we found ourselves needing to change their wedding plans just a little. Thanks to the worldwide pandemic, much of their family were no longer able to fly in to Florida for their destination wedding.
But the couple still craved photos at Fern Forest. Luckily, Broward County Parks gave us permission to play in the park and take some photos just hours before shutting down because of COVID-19 restrictions.
And so we pivot…
With the ceremony and reception now moved to her parent’s backyard and patio, I met the couple at Fern Forest for a quick “first look” and some portraits. After some family formals we were on our way to get them officially married.
While we wrapped up portraits at Fern Forest, the couple’s family and officiant gathered at the Coral Springs home. The groomsmen got to work setting up the backyard ceremony space. Bags of lavender were left out for the guests to toss after the first kiss. This is one of my all time favorite little wedding details – imagine smelling a hint of lavender at any time in your life and being whisked away to memories of your wedding vows.
Near the end of the ceremony, Abuela blessed us all with a beautiful song. What a beautiful way to incorporate your grandmother into your wedding ceremony!
Your South Florida elopement doesn’t have to be at an epic location. So long as your favorite people are there with you and your partner, the backyard can be just as special.
