Back in July, another photographer reached out to me to see if I’d be interested in photographing a “Red Thread Session” – an adoption session that is gifted to new families. I’m not affiliated with the organization (yet!) but wanted to volunteer my time to a sweet Canadian couple who’ve been waiting years to adopt their fifth daughter.
Adoption sessions are so close to my heart. I offer discounted rates for families looking to document the final court date, and my heart explodes as that gavel hits the desk.
Weeks went by, and so did a couple set-backs. Finally, in late September, K & R received the call that their daughter was born and they hopped on the first flight to Fort Lauderdale to finalize the adoption.
They named her Lyric Sol. “Sol” for sun, because of her birth place.
I spent just an hour with my new friends at their South Florida Air BnB, and photographed them loving on Lyric and showing her off via FaceTime to the rest of the family back home.
